SCOPE CERTIFICATION: WHAT IT MEANS AND WHY IT MATTERS

Stand out as a champion for patient safety.  Distinguish your practice with SCOPE certification from ACOG.

SCOPE is a voluntary, comprehensive patient safety review program for medical offices that provide obstetric and/or gynecologic services. SCOPE helps ob-gyns assess the implementation and use of patient safety concepts and techniques and distinguishes those offices with strong patient safety practices. Education and assistance is provided when office processes requiring improvement are identified.

SCOPE focuses solely on processes associated with enhancing the safety environment and reducing risk for patients in the office setting. SCOPE does not evaluate the quality of clinical care provided by an ob-gyn office.

Potential benefits of SCOPE:

  • Enhance patient safety outcomes
  • Improve office teamwork, efficiency and effectiveness
  • Reduce liability risk
  • Position your office for changes in payment systems

You receive:

  • Objective, comprehensive office safety assessment
  • Best practice tools, policies and procedures for office safety
  • College and Congress guidelines and resources in hard copy
  • Expert consultation, support, and education
  • Eligibility for ABOG MOC Part IV credit
  • Certificate for display, marketing kit, and recognition in The Green Journal
